ACTION ALERT

Urge Florida Senate and House Members to Pass HB 1143
Containing Vital Pro-life Provisions

Background: Earlier today, the Florida Senate amended HB 1143 to add critically important pro-life provisions. The bill is poised to be voted on by the Senate.

Senator Andy Gardiner led the effort to require that all women contemplating an abortion view an ultrasound of their unborn child unless they sign a form to opt out or meet certain exemptions. This gives the woman the ability to make an informed choice regarding her future and the future of her child.

Senator Mike Haridopolos sponsored an amendment that prohibits health insurance policies purchased with state or federal funds in the State Insurance Exchange established by federal health reform from providing coverage for abortion. A majority of Americans believe that public funds should not be used to pay for abortions.

After passage by the Senate, HB 1143 will return to the House, which must vote on the amended bill before the Session concludes this Friday, April 30.

ACTION: Please urge your senator and representative to vote ‘yes’ on HB 1143 without additional amendments.

Send an email message immediately as time to consider this bill is limited.
Action is needed now.
